Ensure equipment is available and capable. This includes measurement system analysis, troubleshooting and improvement of key systems:
Understanding of all the factors that cause variability in the production testing of engines (such as fuel, lubricants, ambient conditions, etc.) and how to control
Understanding physical characteristics of the engine that impact on the time it takes an engine to "settle" in production test (such as cylinder liner finish, clearance "stack-ups", fuel system quirks, etc.) to achieve faster testing.
Post test, statistical analysis of production data to identify trends, spot production problems and do failure analysis
Optimization of test cycles, design of test cells, fixtures and physical handling equipment (such as carts, match-plates, master-disconnect systems, etc.)
Automated data acquisition and control systems
